How Share Links Work
Each share link contains a cryptographically random token (32 characters). When someone accesses the link, we verify the token and serve the session player with read-only access.
You control link permissions: set expiration dates (1 day, 7 days, 30 days, or never), limit to specific sessions or analytics views, and revoke access at any time. Each link tracks view counts.
Two types exist: Team Links require recipients to log in with your organization's credentials, while Public Links are open to anyone with the URL. Choose based on your security requirements.
Real-World Use Case
A developer finds a bug where users can't complete checkout on Safari. They capture a session showing the issue and generate a share link. The link goes into the bug ticket, so anyone on the team can watch the exact reproduction.
No back-and-forth asking "what browser?" or "can you send a screen recording?". The bug report includes the actual user session. The bug is understood, reproduced, and fixed in a single sprint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I revoke a share link?
Yes. From the Share Links management page, you can disable any link instantly. Once revoked, the URL returns a 404 error. Previously viewed sessions remain in browser cache temporarily but can't be reloaded.
Do share links expose sensitive data?
Share links respect the same data masking rules as regular session viewing. Masked fields remain masked. However, be careful sharing sessions that might contain visible PII in page content.
Is there a limit on share links?
No limit on the number of links you can create. Each link can be viewed unlimited times (unless you set a view limit). Old links can be cleaned up from the management interface.
Can I track who viewed a share link?
For Public Links, we track view count and approximate viewer location (country level). For Team Links, we log which team member accessed the link and when.
