How MP4 Export Works
When you request an export, our backend spins up a headless browser instance and replays the session. The player renders the DOM exactly as the user saw it, including styles, images, and dynamic content.
The rendering is captured at 30fps using puppeteer's screenshot API, then encoded to H.264 MP4 using FFmpeg. The cursor is rendered as an overlay with click animations. The process typically takes 1-3x the session duration.
Once complete, you receive a download link. Videos have no watermarks and include the cursor trail, click indicators, and scroll movements — everything needed to understand the user's experience.
Real-World Use Case
An agency needs to present UX findings to a client who doesn't have access to the analytics platform. Instead of scheduling a screen-share, the analyst exports 3 key sessions as MP4 files and embeds them in a presentation.
The client can watch the videos at their convenience, pause and replay specific moments, and share them internally. The feedback loop that used to take a week now takes a day.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does export take?
Export time depends on session length and page complexity. A 5-minute session typically exports in 5-10 minutes. Complex pages with many images may take longer. You'll receive an email when the export is ready.
What video resolution is exported?
Videos are exported at 1920x1080 by default. The content is scaled to fit while maintaining aspect ratio. Mobile sessions are rendered at their native resolution centered in the frame.
Are there watermarks on exported videos?
No. Exported videos have no watermarks, logos, or branding. They're clean files ready for presentations, reports, or archival purposes.
Can I export multiple sessions at once?
Currently, exports are processed one at a time per account to ensure quality. You can queue multiple exports, and they'll process sequentially. Bulk export features are on the roadmap.
